For the past 15 years, Elizabeth has been a freelance opinion writer and writer of narrative non-fiction. In December 2021 she was shortlisted for the Strange Days non-fiction writing competition judged by Helen Garner. Her opinion pieces regularly appear in publications including The Age, The Guardian and The Big Issue ( here reproduced in her blog diywoman.net). She also reviews for Limelight magazine.

She is a recent graduate of RMIT’s Professional Writing and Editing associate degree and an aspiring author of picture books, children’s and YA fiction. Her middle grade manuscript, titled ‘The Book of Norman’, is narrated by a rescue greyhound with an imperfect grasp of Human and a counting range of 1 to 3. It’s the story of his adoption into a human family and his misguided attempts at maintaining favourite child status with the arrival of a human ‘pup’.

Norman first made his public debut in a 2020 pandemic piece for the Big Issue titled ‘The Long-Distance Grandmother’ about his real-life relationship with Elizabeth's granddaughter Astrid. It is reproduced here in her blog.
